Author Bio
At 3 a.m., the world tilts. Shadows stretch longer, questions get louder, and what’s real feels a little less certain.
That’s where I live—and write.
I’m Thaddeus Cain, author of THE IN-BETWEEN, a supernatural thriller set in 1980s Rhode Island, where a murdered girl’s ghost haunts the boy she left behind, while a broken-down detective hunts a killer.
I’ve wanted to write since I can remember. The first “grown-up” book I ever read was Cujo—I was nine years old, and I bought it at a souvenir shop in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. That book shocked me in the best way. Ever since, I’ve been writing stories in my head, haunted by characters and questions I couldn’t shake.
Life got in the way, but the work never left. I started THE IN-BETWEEN six years ago. Through moves, long seasons, and setbacks, the book kept waiting—quietly, stubbornly—until I came back to it.
Before turning to fiction writing full-time, I built and sold two businesses. Now I’m in the home stretch—finally doing what I was supposed to be doing all along.
The 3 AM Beacon is where I share the writing process in real time—along with reflections on life, fear, faith, and the work we’re called to do.
If you’ve ever stood at the edge of something unseen, or felt the quiet pull of the work you were meant to do—this is for you.
Let’s keep watch together.
